Well done on going Matt.  Bet it was cold out there.  Have a look for some divers Neoprene gloves. I managed to get some quite cheap, they're great and water-proof.
Turned up at Saundersfoot the other day thinking mine were in my finds bag only to discover they weren't. Used them walking the dogs and forgot to put them back.  Boy were my hands cold.

You did about as well as me (except for all the bullets) I got 32p so a bit more than you. Also a small block of black stuff that gave a good signal. cracked it open when I got home to find what was left of a new penny with it's inner core sticking out.

Makes you wonder what old King George would have made of todays money.

Ive got the seal skin gloves but in this weather your hands are still cold.

Haha well i normally always carry 2 pairs of headphones, As i was digging a hole today i put my spade through the headphone wire, so went to get my spare pair and guess what i had taken them out of the bag last trip.So i had to cancel my trip earlier than i wanted too Sad

There was alot more sand on the beach today, i had a few of those in summer but havent had one in the while, Never know whats going to be in those black stuff, always a nice surprise when you take them home and get a coin .

Ist one I took home and 'cracked' turned out to be a Bull Head 6d , very nice. So now I live in hope of finding another one.

Looked like some of some ones beach defences had got washed into Saundersfoot. Either that or a canny builder had dumped a lorry load over the Harbour wall.
Soon gave up on that part, just like listening to Morse code.

Hi Matt,
Missed you today at Aberavon, we had a bit of a minor crisis back home, so didn't get down there until 12.30.
I see you came up with the usual bullets and a few coins. Mrs Wizard and I spent most of the time searching the top of beach and came up with quite a few pre decimal and loads of modern coinage along with some junk  Undecided
May see  you in Ross tomorrow for a chat.
All the best, Jeff  Cool

Nice going Mat, called down around half twelve and saw four down by the surf line, bugger that for a laugh stayed in my truck and left it to the experts.

The surf was 'dangerous' today. One moment I'd be walking in ankle deep water the next its above me knees with storm force surges. Even at that shallow a depth, it was alI I could be to keep my balance. Worked the inner surf area for about an hour and a half bit it was exhausting just trying to stop the waves from ripping the detector from my hand once it got hold of the coil. Plus the sand scoop was acting like a wind trap. Not a day for surf detecting. Looking forward to some softer wind and surf conditions.

Looking to do one of the beaches down West Wales tomorrow. Not sure which one yet mind you.
