As our DIGGA as just recently found a forged HENRY 8TH coin, as any other member on Detectingwales.com found any !!!,would be interesting to know and what forgery coin did you find............Huh Huh Huh Roll Eyes Wink

i haven't found  any hammered forgeries that i know of,  but lots of georgian silver,  they were quite common as gold and silver was in short supply in the 1700s
 besides the sixpence and shillings i also have 2 x dollar forgeries which were brought in to help us out with coinage at the time,  some were over stamped with george the 3rd head

Yes Kev i have found a few forgeries,mainly Georgian half pennies and a couple of earlier half pennies which are made from bronze rather than copper but i'm not sure on those,this is the best forgery i've found a George 3rd shilling.

What about the James i Crown found in Caerleon 1? or was that found to be emergency issue ?  Borderfox , what was the result on that one fella?

hi. the charles 1st shilling was a contem pory forgery of that time edward besley id and confirmed lloyd bennett, had a loan to compare one he had bought for £100 pounds his was perfect silver plated  he confirmed both had same mintmarks made by the same forger i wonder if he got caught, Undecided  i have found 2 george 111 halfcrown s which i found in the vale regards john

yeah,  iv'e got a Celtic copy of a Claudius as. official though as the romans Aurothised  it with the Celtic  monyers at the time
