Would you trust a detecting buddy to drive your car ?

Would you let other detectorists borrow your detectors, swap them for a day during a rally.

We all would like to see and handle other makes in the field and see them perform.

It seems a pity when you have a forum full of detectors, some of which lie still in the corner waiting to be used, because they re a so called back up.

It was just a thought. We could all help each other a lot more and the newbies who havent a clue in what to buy .

Good idea Outlaw, it already happens on DW rallies. I've lent a machine out on three occasions to date on a DW rally to other members. I know quite a few of the lads have also helped each other out on numerous occasions, allowing members to try their machines, replacement for the day, etc. We are indeed a trusting bunch - and thats how it should be.

As usual if anyones machine goes down I always carry a spare they can use.

Cheers

I WOULD SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE THE USE OF A DETECTOR YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BUYING BEFORE ACTUALLY BUYING ONE

It is in deed a very good thing to do  Grin

I was very lucky 5years ago when  Dragonsbreath let me borrow his sov elite, I was gobsmacked at the time as he didnt know me, just heard on a forum i was interested in buying one.
I bought one on the strength of the loan, and still have my trusty elite to this day, afterwhich i was definitely hooked on detecting.

At the time and still do, thought it a very friendly thing to do  Grin

There must be lots of newbies out there in the same position.

At the moment Im lucky enough to have 3 detectors and would gladly lend the laser to someone, no problem. However I did lend a pair of gloves to someone a few yrs ago though never had a thankyou and never had them back

Yes a very good Idea actually. I mean so often is the case that people that have no detector but still scan the forum.

Now.... If they could attend a DW Rally and try a couple of detectors and indeed try out detecting, they are going to be put on the correct footing from the beginning. They can then also be introduced to club members. Always easier to go to a meeting if you've met some of the guys first.

There are a few of us with an array of detectors that sit not in use, why not
set up a pool on DW for newbies to use and oldies for that matter on forthcoming rallies etc

its well worth thinking about, and could benefit a lot of people. Grin
