Title: Scheduled Monument
Post by: hotmill on February 06, 2015, 09:48:27 AM
Hello all,

I now have a permission that has a scheduled monument in one of the fields. I understand you cant dig them or near them but what sort of distance are you expected to keep away from them as its in the corner of a huge field that I would like to be able to detect?

Thanks

Each site has it's own unique area and size but the landowner will/should have a copy of the scheduling with the exact area and coordinates and you can detect up to the edge of the scheduling if they've lost it then you should be able to get a copy in your county records/HEL office. If it's over the border then all scheduled sites are on magic map ;)

Thanks Chef. I'll ask the owner the next time I see him.

there will be a red line drawn around it and obviously dont cross that line everywhere else is fine and as geoff says you can get a copy

If you are undecided, the correct method in order to be absolutely certain as to what area around the scheduled monument you can detect is to contact Cpat and give them grid references and address etc, they will then email back a drawing giving you an exact boundary. Simple really  ;D Though I am assuming you are in Wales LOL
