Royal Mail Tracking is a joke. I bought a shovel recently from the USA, I'm sure some of you will remember the saga with the spade.
Anyway, just a few hours after the purchase I had a tracking number from the supplier and a progress report from the courier.

I purchased something from Ireland and received a tracking number over twenty four hours ago. (Royal Mail Tracking - Nothing)
no current record of location or progress. What a set up - why do they even bother offering a tracking service?

North or South? If it was from the North and postage was bought after 12 o'clock on a Saturday, it's possible that the seller has purchased postage via the web, ebay etc the number won't actually exist until it is scanned in at the post office. This is to stop people buying postage, saying they have sent and item but not bothered.

I'm going to start sending all my stuff by Collect+ .  So easy, and much cheaper! I'm really impressed with them.

I can't recommend them highly enough!

From the South Geoff. The transaction was in euro's.

Agree Bob. Royal mail has seen the last of me posting parcels.

What's interesting with Royal Mail is that recorded delivery only proves it was delivered. It could go missing along the way and you are only covered for £30 unless you pay more for the insurance.

Only Special Delivery is tracked and then it starts getting expensive!

Umm Mike I don't know how to tell you this, in fact you better sit down......The south had a war of independence and well... we lost.
Now they did take over the GPO in Dublin in 1918 but they got rid of the "Royal" mail. If it's from the south then the tracking would be An Post;
