Here is a bit of info on Pope Clement VI, he reminds me of a few of our MP'S of today  ::)

Of unprecedented depravity and criminal negligence (1347-51) That Pope Clement VI during the massive death and misery of the world did celebrate by continuing endless drug fuelled sex parties and great banquets of the finest food. History shows that not one single gold coin was given from the richest treasury in human history to aid one soul amongst the seventy five million (75,000,000) innocent human beings who died because of this supremely evil and unholy man.

Mike,

A Papal Bull was a manuscript issuing an instruction or announcement from the Pope. It was signed and sealed with a metal seal, usually lead, bearing the Popes insignia.

I got a pair of them now, found 20 years apart so can’t be very common around these parts. The other one is Pope Urbanus V, showing a bit more ware on the faces.

If you think about exactly what they are, it's a chance in a life time to find one, never mind two.

How many Papal Bulls came to this Country ? How many are hidden away in archives ? most I imagine. That doesn't leave many. I wonder how many where destroyed during the dissolution of the Catholic Churches. That can be the only way some of the seals got into the fields. They where almost considered to be sacred so def. wouldn't have been thrown out.

Lucky Steve. Great finds.

Val
