hi,hope you could help me identify this possoble brooch.its 6cm diameter and is fairly heavy,think it might be some sort of lead alloy.there is also traces of what looks like a gold coating that used to be on it.im hoping it might be roman as ive yet to find anything positivly identified as roman  Sad ,thanks.

Nice find, but it's not a brooch and not Roman sorry.

It's a harness mount (bridle boss), circa 18th century, like this:
