Hereit is!!! This is the coin found at our last rally by John Handleigh, who was showing it off today. It's Harold I, Jewel cross type, and a very rare find for Wales.

Here's the reverse. No idea on mint or moneyer, but should be easily identifiable by an expert.

Not that rare - couple of hundred quid probably, but almost unheard of in Wales. And it's silver.

hi there , is it the same john handleigh who used to be in the llanelli club? from porthcawl?? if so this is his 2nd one in wales he had a cut half in laugharne a few years back of aethelred 11 if its not then great coin anyway if it is nice to see you are still at it john great coin well done, should see you at one of the rallys   mick

This coin is still with Edward Besly in Cardiff museum. My best guess is that it is Bristol mint, moneyer Aelfwine (AELFPINE ON BRICC) and dates 1036-1038.

Last night it won the Cardiff Scan Club Coin of the Year trophy. Here is John receiving the cup from our Chair Debbie:
