This is a rare find it is a celtic horse  cheekpiece
It was not found by me but a friend when five of us where out detecting
It dates approx One AD       looks like a toffee hammer
Notice a bit of red guilding still showing
It will probably end up in a museumn as it deserves to be seen by all

I found a similar cheek piece about 18 months ago on a C.S.C rally on the other
side of Chepstow. Mine was unfortunately broken off on one end. Also still had a
little enamelling left. I had a full report from the National Museum, it was hollow, and
they did not know why. They thought it was the maker probably showing off his skill.
As solid or hollow it,s weight made no difference to the horse. I checked through my
computer photos to post it, but it seems to have vanished. Will have to take more shots, and post it up. Anyway, it,s a great find, well saved, Congrats,  STAN

Thanks for posting it Peter. As you said, don,t time fly. It,s a good find, but not
half as good as the English one. Time is on my side!!!    STAN
