  What causes the rings to snap like that?  is it the smashing against rocks?(thought gold was soft enough to give when bashed a bit)?   or was it damaged by you diggin it up??

weldone celtic the signet is 9gms :o and the broken band is 4.5gms.nice little pay off lol.
 a lot of the older 9ct rings tend to split or just fall apart when you get them home.

thanks for comments peeps im chuffed cos its the first gold i have had with my 18 coil on the etrac ,i thought it was allergic to the good stuff lol

im back in work soon,10 hrs a day an 6 days a week thats why im hittin beaches hard this week andy.

the signet ring is dated 1937 :o,that has now split too >:( >:(

  Thnx for clearing that up, I thought that break was rather fresh and a bit of a miracle to find all 3 pieces together ..
