Author Topic: Another New Farm ( Thanks To Roman Ray )  (Read 1677 times)

Well yesterday was supposed to be a day out with a few DW members at A farm I acquired a few weeks ago. Plan B came into force when heavy rain earlier in the week and a threat of a Doomsday scenario ment we would not even get the cars on the field and as the weather did turn really bad it was a good job we postponed for a week.
Roman Ray PM,ed me about two weeks ago and asked if I would be interested in some farms he had acquired only twenty / twenty five mins away from me. After his first visit he realised a round trip of five hours took a big chunk out of his day which is when he contacted me. All three farms have a great history and as I thought I had to go somewhere yesterday one of these farms was literally five mins up the road. I Have attached a picture showing the southern end of the land available and after a swift chat to the new landowner who I actually knew ( small World eh )but had not spoke to for about 15- 16 years, of I went to achieve at least a bit of knowledge of what lay in the fields I spent about two hours in the field on the right hand side of the road in the bottom middle. As I have tried to highlite with the picture the fields are full of earth works and are believed to be shrunken settlement with a date believed to be 16th century in Origin. The rain and wind suddenly arrived about mid day and boy did it blow and rain, I drove home in pants and t shirt and heater full on. Another detecting first. Finds will be posted later as they are shopping In Shrewsbury at the moment. But the main point of this thread is a big, big thankyou to Roman Ray. He did not have to do this but he did. A top top bloke in my eyes and thankyou Ray.

From the field this was my first signal. A new coin to me Napoleon III 5 Centimes France. Found half a buckle in the same hole. Pics to follow.
