Found today.
A fully hallmarked Silver fob medal, relating to "NGL" footballs North Gloucester League & awarded to the Winners of the George "Sandoe Cup" for the 1947/48 season.This of course was a time of rationing, post war shortages and clothing coupons and many sides turned out in whatever kit they could find or borrow.

The Clubs web site states :
                                             .....the club was formed in 1907 and their celebration of 90 years in local football was marked with a dinner where the guest of honour was former Liverpool and Scotland great Ian St.John. In the 2007/08 season the 100 year anniversary was celebrated with an awards dinner hosted by World Cup winner Nobby Stiles and attended by former Captains and guests from our associated club in Aulendorf, Germany.

In the early years they played in a field behind the church and because of the constant flooding of the ground they were aptly nicknamed the Mudlarks, a name that is not used anymore. To overcome this problem the Parish Council obtained and developed the facilities they currently use, moving to this ground in 1950......

The "field" behind the Church is exactly where i plucked it from its earthly grave 64yrs later. I spoke to the clubs treasurer tonight & hope to be returning the medal to the club soon.

Hallmarked :
"F&S" =  F Fattorini & Son Ltd    1897..1952, Seen on : Condiments, fob medal, fruit knife, souvenir spoon, tea service, trophy cup & plaque, watch case - Bradford, London, Birmingham & Glasgow. Retailers specialising in "medals, shields, trophies, cups & badges"
"Birmingham" assay mark (Anchor)
"Date letter" X = 1947.

Weight = 7g.
