Been rather busy lately Sad  But did manage a few hours this afternoon as a friend called to say we had an invite to a festival site so who are we to refuse Wink

Took the V3i and DFX for the friend to use, as I expected it to be a trashy site. I got 28 coins totaling £12.85 in modern money plus 1 American cent, a silver cufflink and this item pictured here, it's copper/bronzeish in colour and probably modern, any ideas ?  My best guess is a hair slide but there's nothing on the back at all, just a dimpled surface.

Any suggestions ?

BTW all the pound coins are discoloured, not discovered a good way to get them back to a decent colour yet and you get funny looks when trying to use them in a shop, anyone found a good method to get pound coins cleaned up ?

(P.S. got some finds from Mike's recent RNLI rally to post here soon as well, thanks for a nice rally Mike Smiley )

looks like a fancy door knob from the 70's mate , try soaking £1's in cilit bang or similar  Undecided  , I  heard someone used brick acid on beach coins but its nasty stuff if you do use it so wear rubber gloves or get the wife to do it  Grin Grin

see you soon glad you enjoyed the rally Wink

Hmmm, does remind me a bit of the type of knob that used to be used on drawers now you come to mention it, I'll have to have a closer look at the back...

Yes I enjoyed the RNLI do Mike, didnt find all that much, but I was very pleased with what I did find  Grin   Chef ID'd the Croatal bell to 14th Century and thats the earliest I've found of them, so well pleased and I am getting more and more convinced the other item I found was a sword chape from the field over the road, so when tested for Silver may have to report that one if it turns out to be one. All in all a good couple of days out Smiley

The police caught a couple of druggies near here and one of them was drinking battery acid and the other one was chewing fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off !

I find that most places refuse them pound coins round here including the bank. However one place that without fail always take them is mcdonalds! Never even got a funny look from them. Smiley

always comes in handy after a dig.
