Back to field again for a few hours today,on arrival the farmer had tried to plough a couple of areas presumably to see if the ground was too wet, looks like it might have been as he had left most of the field for another day.
After setting up and making the tea I just sat there contemplating what might turn up this time, the sun was shining, a robin singing in the hedge behind me it was one of those special moments when you realise just what a great hobby we have, I guess most of you have been there and know what I mean
I decided to stick to the stubble and wait for the ploughed area to be worked down and seeded at a later date, I have to say the ultimate coil is impressive I had some nice deep signals especially the Elizabeth sixpence at 8" bear in mind the stubble was 6" in places! As can be seen from my pictures various buckles ,including a spur buckle came to light, also another bronze finger ring which looks medieval although I have seen a gold roman ring with identical design before .(A gold medieval ring is on my wish list)
as i'm sure it is for most of you.
The two pieces of lead weighs 8oz and 14oz incedently. Well a hot bath called for now to rest the achey back, we will see what the next search brings
