Title: George III shilling
Post by: hedgehog on May 27, 2009, 06:21:29 PM
Run out of ground to detect on, went around the edge of 1 field (being cut for haylage), down the one side was rubbish (modern), then got the George, next side was shotgun cartridges, next side more cartridges and last one a lead pot mend, so when the field has been cleared hopefully I know which areas to avoid.  ;D
Pity about the nicks in the edge but do like the patination on the coin.

Nice find hedgehog , looks to be in really good condition , most of the Georges I have found are pretty worn.

Very nice that Steve, must have been nearly new when it was lost,i don't get many George 3rd milled silver's so any condition is good for me.

I don't get many either , but isn't it strange when you find one (found an 1817 shilling a couple of weeks ago and it's been a few years since the last one) another one comes along a little later.
Yes i thought it must have been lost early on , just hope that they could have afforded to lose it at the time

Great condition hedgehog - I am quite partial to finding some nice silver myself.  When I am out on land, I aim for hammies or roman, but if I can come home with Victorian or Georgian silver, then I am happy.  I am GUTTED if I only find grots  :'( :'( :'(

Steve this George 111 and George IV silver must be in our veins at the moment. You have a couple from your last couple of trips. While I have three from my last two trips.
