How did you all get on? I couldn't make it I'm afraid, buI would be interested to hear what was found. Last time we had a rally near that location (apparently over the road) there were some choice finds made.

Cheers

We had a good day Neil - finds for the 4 of us!  I had a roman, Tyna had a hammered and a roman, Stevie K had a roman and a nice willy 6d and The Doc had 2 love tokens.  Peter will put the photos on later - we haven't long got home.  Brew is flat out on the floor snoozing - he has had a very busy weekend!  I will wake him later to give him his fish supper. About 20 of the faithful headed just across the border for today's rally.
The weather was superb once again, and without AncientPat in attendance, and Borderfox having to leave at lunchtime to play cricket, the rest of us had a bit more of a chance

The fields were pasture, and we also had the pleasure (?) of cows for company after lunch. Although we were aware the fields had been detected on before, a number of interesting finds came up, including at least three Roman coins, part of a Roman brooch, one hammered and several milled silver coins.

I haven't got round to getting pictures of my own finds yet, which included two silver love tokens, a livery button and a Charles II farthing ( yes I know that sounds like a load of junk )

Here are a few pics

And here are a couple of military items - the Dragon badge found by Bernard Diggins and the RFA (Royal Fleet Auxiliary?) by John Sheeley.
