Title: A couple of finds for ID
Post by: Rob Two Spades on April 19, 2017, 05:56:16 PM
I've had a lot of Roman brooches but nothing like this one. Any ideas or references for the type? Its 4cm long.
The hammie looks like a King John?

The brooch is a Roman Knee 2 nd cent AD. These were favoured by the Roman military.  ;) I've seen a few knee brooches but not like yours.  ;)

Agree with JayHay - I think the portrait looks like John of some sort (class 5 I think).
