Title: Fibula Post by: GJH on April 26, 2015, 07:16:31 PM I found this fibula a couple of weeks ago, I'm sure Geoff or someone could say what type and age it is, (it's 50mm long )
Thanks Geoff Title: Re: Fibula Post by: hotmill on April 26, 2015, 07:35:30 PM That's very nice!
Title: Re: Fibula Post by: Chef Geoff on April 26, 2015, 08:55:22 PM Lovely condition Geoff, what's with all the complete brooches lately? It's a mid to late 1st century Dolphin brooch you haven't shown a pic of the front so I can't see the design but going by the 3 holes in the catch plate I'd say it was a Hattatt 356 ;)
Title: Re: Fibula Post by: GJH on April 26, 2015, 09:06:24 PM Thanks Geoff, I will put a pic of the front on tomorrow.

Geoff Title: Re: Fibula Post by: Chef Geoff on April 27, 2015, 07:14:15 PM Ahhh! now that changes things a bit....it's a Colchester type so could push it back to pre conquest times (from around 30 AD) and is a Hattatt 250 ;)
Title: Re: Fibula Post by: GJH on April 27, 2015, 07:32:10 PM Thank's Geoff, I didn't realise it would be that early.
