Title: long grass
Post by: wet feet again on April 16, 2014, 08:07:19 AM
just spoke to the farmer on my most productive fields,
the grass is getting longer and he has asked me not to go on them.
so will have to wait . summers not even here yet and I am wishing it away,
only been on half the fields and had loads of finds 1/4 noble, lizzy penny, john penny, love token, spindle whorl, thimbles plenty more there I am sure. off to pastures new but cant wait to get back there,
HOW DO PEOPLE COPE ??
I know its not my land and I am greatfull for permission.
ITS LIKE WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS ONLY NOW I AM 45

:D :D Yes I know what you mean, in years past I used to put my kit away at the end of April and it stayed there until August as it just wasn't worth the disappointment and hassle what with no arable, grass being grown for silage, concrete ground which has rubbish conduction and it's just too hot.....well hopefully lol

Can't be that bad Guys.  Round here last year all the Farmers got 3 cuts for silage and one who cut really early got a 4th late cut.  Must admit it's a bit like dodging the bullets though.  You don't have that much time between the cut, the muck and the growth.

C'mon folks; you can always come down to the beach when the farms are out of bounds.  ;)

Don't think you'll have to wait too long Al.  I went out this afternoon to some silage fields and it's only just about detectable now.  I reckon it'll have a trim by the end of the month.

Chris, I was going to the beach today till I saw what it was like yesterday. By Lunch time it was like Blackpool at Bank Holiday plus we're back to £1 an hour parking.
