Title: Not much to go on.... any ideas?
Post by: Iron Giant on June 09, 2014, 06:54:51 AM
I found this yesterday, a little clean with a toothbrush and tooth pick then a fibreglass pen. I thought it was a blank George III disc when i dug it but the embossed areas are metal and not crud. Any ideas on what it is?

Many thanks  ;)

If its got a copper plug / core in the centre, it could be James II tin half penny. hard to tell from photo
Usually you wont gain much by trying to clean a blank disc, usually it just becomes a shiny blank disc.(the design went years ago)
Its something most of us have done at some point in the past  >:(

Thanks, my buddy found a Charles II half penny same day, same very old path so it could be!

I know what you mean, when they are that bad though you have nothing to lose by trying to clean  ;)

Below is the other side which didn't upload this morning  ;)
