Title: anyone any idea about this Post by: scara on February 09, 2017, 10:39:11 PM (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l107/scara_01/qou.jpg) (http://s94.photobucket.com/user/scara_01/media/qou.jpg.html)
Sorry for the large pic I found this today deep on some pasture, I have posted on a facebook page where someone suggested it may be a bag seal. However and this just may be my suspicious mind someone else has offered to take it off me even though it's not worth anything to go on a lead sundial they found, am I being suspicious or do they know something I don't. Any ideas much appreciated. Title: Re: anyone any idea about this Post by: Val Beechey on February 10, 2017, 09:36:19 AM The part cross, bottom left, could be interesting.
Still haven't worked out how to do a link but have a look for seiyaku.com It's a site dedicated to crosses. If you tap on a cross it takes you to a page telling you where, when and how it was used. The nearest I could see with rounded ends was a consecration cross put on churches when they were built. Title: Re: anyone any idea about this Post by: Myke on February 13, 2017, 03:06:18 PM looks a bit like a Byzantine document seal? they liked crosses of that type and used lead and cord to seal documents in 7th century I believe (as did the romans)...but its just a guess
