Hardly worth my posting as I didnt really find much, but thats the way it goes, did find a massive bell, broken but  about 3" across the base, couldn't have been for an animal surely  Huh  and a button with NFS on it from the top field amongst the noise.

Was great to see the other finds though, a Willy day for sure & a cracking seal, wonder what impression it will give, be interesting to see Smiley

Thanks to all those involved with organising, great report once again Neil Smiley and thanks to Ray / Paul for finding & researching the site, it was great to be out again with a nice bunch of like minded folk Smiley

Till the next one...

Thanks for the great write up Neil, Great report. P.S. the R.F.C badge is certainly older
than an R.AF. badge. The Royal Flying Corps was changed to Royal Air Force in 1917

I think  they are meant to be Pelicans but what they are meant to be carrying is anyones guess, purses?, intriguingly the Bishop of Hereford  in 1559-85 had three pelicans heads on his coat of arms, close but no coconut  Sad

Rob - I think you'll find that it's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut!

By the way - I think you are pretty close Proconsul - nice bit of research - its heading in the right direction.
