Thank you for a great day and a chance to meet some of the many members of DW Wales.
I was absolutely thrilled to to find the Glastonbury marked watch key,it beats taking home a stick of rock.
Thank you also for being such a friendly bunch and making us so welcome.
Hope to meet  up again soon.

Great report Neil and great photos from all. I'll post my finds a bit later.

I enjoyed the day as usual and I was well fortified, not by pies but by Mrs RJM's excellent pasties - thanks again Bob  Smiley

I hope there isn't a theme developing here, but thanks also to Mark for the scones!

Was nice to see Laura the FLO again - I met her when she was new on her first ever rally in Sussex, which she admitted yesterday was a bit of a baptism of fire. Yesterday was easy work in comparison.

As posted above, the last two hammered of the day were found by Jon Talbot in a spot that had I think been under Laura's car, and by Eric in an area I'd parked my spade in when I visited the hedge earlier in the day!

Was great to make the acquaintance of a few members who I hadn't spoken to before, and fascinating to have a go at Steve(avalon)'s testbed on a piece of Bronze Age gold. My F75 barely passed the test but the positive response from the Fisher Goldbug was remarkable.

Great day out - but suffered a bit due to not having a hat on - big mistake! Had to leave about 2.30pm exhausted.

I had a couple of vicky pennies, buckle, button and the best of the lot was a hooked tag (Neil's Tor30 picture labeled Docs Crotal Bell for some reason  Grin )

Good day but lesson learned about the hat.

Thanks to all who organised the Glastonbury Rally, it was a really good day! I don't think I have ever detected on such a hot day as that. For the first 3-4hours of the day I hadn't found much, found loads of pull tabs on the largest field, and so decided to rest in a bit of shade and have a few biscuits and drink. Neil came along and unearthed a toy car near me and a tiny bullet, and he asked me what I'd found and he told me what had been found so far, which was quite a lot already, 7 hammereds by this time. So this gave me some inspiration (THANKS NEIL) so I headed to the one field I hadn't been in which was the triangular shaped field next to the large one, and after about 5 minutes of being in there I had found a Lizzy hammered, a bit clipped and worn on the bust side but still a decent looking coin, so was very pleased with this. For the rest of the day I found this strap end / buckle thing and I forgot about it till I got home, a Horn Protector. But I think the biggest shock find for me for the day was to come away with an Eddy Penny. I was not expecting that. Waiting for my lift home, and watching Rob having a go by the hedge, I decided to go around by the hedge too (THANKS ROB), on the opposite side of where Laura parked her car to where Rob was having a go, and there it was! Thanks for taking a picture of it in the ground Chef, much appreciated! The Victorian Penny was also found by the hedge just prior to the Eddy Penny. So that did end my day on a high. Well done to Scrappy and Nobby for finding their first hammereds! Thanks again for a great day!! Jon.
