Nightmare Neil - hope the leg is on the mend soon mate. I don't thin you'll be playing for the Villa this season, although they could probably do with you!

You are spot on in that the Finds of the Rally voting is going to be a toughy! Over to Kev to sort that out.

Get well soon

Once again, Neil, an excellent report on yesterdays Rally. I always look forward to reading them. Could almost say it made me feel as if I were there.(Without the Sunburn)

Some great finds, well done all.

Well done Neil and I'll pas on your thanks to Claire, well that's just as soon as I've figured out who the hell Claire is Grin Try Laura Wink
In the end I think the Goudge will remain a possible as it was a "bit too different" to be accurately classed as of any age. The James Ist shilling is in fact a Charles Ist (have you still got sunstroke Neil Grin) and you missed out my find of the day..........oh hang on a minute I didn't have one.
Well here are a few more shots.....
John1987's cartwheel penny, his first so well done.

WeLsH Boi's (?) Henry VI groat and what a stunner it was too.

Then just to show off and say "I's likes rallies I does" JTalbot rubbed salt into the wound with his second of the day, slightly bent but a lovely condition Eddy penny, I've now told him that in future when he's found a hammy he's got to go home as it's becoming a habit Angry

And just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water Eric (Meatslicer) nonchalantly sidles up only to inform us that he too has joined the Glastafarian Hammy club with his late entry of a Lizzy 3d which had been bent into a "love token", this is the earliest definite one I've ever seen. Wink

But it was "HOT" toooooooo hot for detecting

Despite being roasted alive and buzzed by bugs, had a great day out amongst fellow nutters. It was nice of DW organizers to arrange the big shade trees in one of the bottom fields where I crashed out for ten minutes.

It was great having such a helpful FLO too. She was very informative while not commenting on being surrounded by gangs of sweaty blokes! Showed her my finds and had most of them identified. Had some big chunks of bronze out including a handle partifact that the jury is out on the date for.

Had my potleg recorded then collapsed in a heap back at the car.

It cooled off a bit late on in the day, so I headed off down the car park field checking over the area where most of the hammered coins seemed to have come from. Found my first Lizzy Hammered which had been folded into a love token. A bit of an early rarity I understand.

I even got a clod shot of it for posterity just before my iphone battery died.

Corrected the mistakes! Well spotted Chef - just a few deliberate mistakes  Roll Eyes for you! What with members names, finds descriptions and a minor hangover - it was a lot to remember!

Great photos Chef and Meat - well done on your hammered as well.

That's me in your last photo Geoff!!  We had a cracking day out, a big thanks to all the organisers and to everyone for making us welcome on our first rally.  I had a nice spectacle buckle with the pin half intact.  Also had a crude trade weight.  No silver this time but it wasn't through lack of trying.  Spend most the day in the bottom field where there were lots of signals.  Dug £2.20 in modern and lots of pre-decimal / worn.  Bottom field was also heavily soiled with..............................................RING PULLS!!! and I daren't notch them out with the history of the land.  Had half hour nap in the shade of the trees before being woken for a chinwag by Ray from the Rhonnda.

Great to see so many nice coins come up.  Can't make it to Chepstow on Saturday but will definitely be looking at attending after the one after that.  There are a few nice sites here in Pembrokeshire that would make a good venue for a DW Rally??
