That ring rocks  Shocked
Thought to myself - I like the look of that tree but a little voice said it had been over with a fine tooth comb by everyone else so didn't bother -that was well before the ring was found !!
Lesson learned - go with your first impulse it rarely let's you down Wink

Neil suggested I show a couple more of the ring. For those with a T2, it registered at 51.

I love the ring, I don't know anything about rings but what I find unusual is the fact that the stone is tear drop shaped and set horizontal rather than vertical, if you get my meaning. And the picture that Paul took, is that really a windmill set in the hills? Is it a working mill?

It is there, but apparently is a house built in the form of a windmill. Looks realistic though, here's a closer view:

rjm I'm showing it to the FLO on Thurs.

Now my initial euphoria has subsided, I'm beginning to think it might not be over 300 years old. Anyway we'll see in due course.

I posted the gold ring on UK Detecting Database and this was the validation report:
A gold finger ring of the Victorian period. The shank is D shaped in section, plain at the bottom and expanding to form split shoulders with engraved and granulated decoration, then progressing to surround the ovoid bezel set with a dark red, polished, "teardrop" cabochon, (probably garnet.)

So not Tudor after all....
