Had a great time as always guys - thank you.  Approx 2pm Brewster and I decided to sit back and relax - afternoon nap was called for and a chance to take in some rays  Wink  We were soon Joined by 'Golden Girl ' one of our new members who was of the same mind and a pleasant 4 hours or so was enjoyed by us both, looking at all the others (who were walking past us) finds.  Myself? - 3 cruddy buttons, the start of blisters and the beginning of a tan   Grin  Well done to those who persevered and had some cracking finds.

Thanks to the organisers, again, for another lovely day out in beautiful countryside and stunning weather.

We were spoiled by the field of rolled soil only to go onto 50 acres of rock hard pasture where digging was
sweat inducing in the 21 degree sunshine. If this is the state of the ground in April, goodness knows what
the ground will be like in a couple of months; or will we have the rainy summer months that we have had
in the past few years?

My only find of note was a George 111 penny but it was nice to see the assortment others were finding
and by the amount, in such hard ground, made a really succesful rally.

I left at 3.15pm to be able to listen to the Doncaster v. Cardiff City match on the car radio. And,
boy, was it a cracker to listen too! The only downside was Swansea beat Norwich afterwards to remain on
the same points as Cardiff.

All in all, with a good rally and a good win, you can't ask for more!  Grin

Well the day started bad for me when after promising to be there early to help with the early parking I oversleep and roll in at 08.45 when most people were already there. Sorry all and it is not a habit I will try to be in to often. All the usual faces and a lot of new ones was great to see. What a great day with the April sunshine giving a great feeling to the day and as the day got warmer I for one certainly started to slow in the warm sunshine. Others appeared to be wilting as well but one thing I noticed was how as peoples detecting action slowed the more we were finding. I happened to see personally two of the hammered and two of the cut halfs come out of the ground and well done to the finders but boy was the ground hard. Loved Ceri,s Roman right at the end of the day. Casa had a very nice spindle whorl and Melonhead made had a cracking Token with IV on one side and TV on the other. Bymatt suggested it was a early tv licence token. Being probably Georgian in date It was extremely early as I think the TV licence came in in the 1960,s. Made me laugh anyway. Here are my better finds and the first one here is a real surprise as it was not until I got it home I found out it was a coin. I think it is George 11 and is the size of my thumbnail and wonder is it a farthing. I gave it my daughter to clean as I washed my other bits as I thought it was the liner from a lid and she asked me what The writing said and I then realised it was a coin.

Here is my hammered cleaned up. It's an Edward II Class 10-11 farthing. A first for me as I've never had a hammered farthing before. Shame it's not in better condition, but beggars can't be choosers  Roll Eyes

Excellent rally, only my second, hell it was hot !  Didn't find anything much (nothing unusual there for me) only a faceless copper halfpenny, but it was a great day, nice weather, saw some others nice finds and really enjoyed it. Thanks to the organisers for sorting it out at short notice, I'll be looking forward to the next time Smiley  I've even bought some more sun screen...

Stopped off at a friends small holding on the way back and got this 1883 20 Kopek Russian Silver, God knows what it was doing there, all in all a nice day out Smiley

A big thanks to all the organisers for arranging the great weather !!
Would it be possible to revisit this site once we have had some rain. Judging by the wide range of finds that came up , especially under such difficult conditions .
My last find of the day was this guilded livery button (a bit of a heart stopper when I saw a bit gold )
