Title: Minelab Advice please Post by: Dryland on March 26, 2013, 04:41:13 PM Buying a used Minelab tomorrow, I've got a choice of two.
Either a minelab explorer xs at £315 or a minelab explorer 2 at £450 I've reserved both at the moment, but I've got to decide on one by tomorrow. Advice wanted please. how much of a difference is there between them ? Is it worth paying the extra £135 ? Title: Re: Minelab Advice please Post by: Mike on March 26, 2013, 05:04:40 PM no , buy the xs use the spare money you saved and buy an ultimate coil off chef , a monster of a set up you wont look back i assure you

My explorer is making my arm and wrist hurt.
On the subject of ultimate coils and explorers. I'm only getting about 6-8 inches depth. On the subject of ultimate coils and explorers. I'm only getting about 6-8 inches depth. On what target? a cut half? a florin? a fridge? a Churchill tank? Title: Re: Minelab Advice please Post by: probono on March 27, 2013, 11:29:02 AM I've certainly been getting much better depth than that :-
1/2 sovereign was about 8-10" down - sestertius about the same. Small bits of lead ~6-8" down Groats certainly at 8~10" down. using the ulitmate coil & SE Pro. Title: Re: Minelab Advice please Post by: Little_bro on March 27, 2013, 05:03:56 PM :D no tanks. Just notice the last couple of digs not going deeper than 8 inch mark. But saying that I've only been finding small buttons and buckles.
Did an air test with a modern 10p and it maxed out at 8 inch mark with the ulitmate coil. Title: Re: Minelab Advice please Post by: Mike on March 27, 2013, 05:12:54 PM get a harness ;)like what i got for my etrac ;) Wimp! i second that :D :D Title: Re: Minelab Advice please Post by: Chef Geoff on March 27, 2013, 05:21:34 PM :D no tanks. I am going to post a thread later to try and explain why we can't and never ever will be able to dig deep small targets using motion machines Title: Re: Minelab Advice please Post by: probono on March 27, 2013, 08:23:34 PM well you can't air test an FBS machine, end of. 8 inches on a small button is very good.
