Title: Anyone know anything about naval buttons? Post by: spaceonwhite on January 14, 2018, 08:41:23 PM What I originally thought was a button of nothingness, on cleanup looks like an old Naval button. Can't find anything online but the land I found it on lays on the River Severn so could have been a crossing at some point in history.
I can make out a little bit of lettering on the reverse which I think is GARD but it then gets cut off. If anyone can shed any light on it, I'd be grateful. Cheers Title: Re: Anyone know anything about naval buttons? Post by: spaceonwhite on January 14, 2018, 09:09:37 PM May have solved it. I think it's a Captain/Commanders Royal Naval button from 1774-1787 https://www.hmsrichmond.org/captbuton.htm (https://www.hmsrichmond.org/captbuton.htm)
