Title: Another site for military buffs....Military Nicknames
Post by: U.K. Brian on July 09, 2009, 08:45:50 AM
This site has a nice section on the nicknames picked up by various sections of the British Army in the 1800's.

I particularly like "The Cherry Pickers"...cavalry attacked by the French when they were picking cherries so they had to fight on foot

and the "Rusty Buckles" ( they didn't make a good showing at a parade in Ireland).

Thanks Brian I've added it to my favourites. :).

If you click on "Military Subjects" in the heading and then click on "Great Britain" on the left there's loads of interesting info about the British Army in the 17 & 1800's.
