Title: Guess the item!
Post by: benny on February 08, 2010, 10:12:32 PM
Picked this up while detecting a while ago thinking it was part of a clay pipe(its not)! Well,it is made of clay and dates from the same age.
Just wondered if anyone else has found any and know what the use of these objects were?
Never knew myself until recently but they're a good sign of habitation if you find any.

No solid clay, about two inches long. Would of been longer but snapped off in plough soil.Cosmetic use!

Its a wig curler! Wigs(like judges wear in court)were the the fashion for people who could afford them. They used to heat these up and use them to curl there hairpiece up.
