Title: Sand Rake
Post by: alun on July 16, 2013, 05:33:36 PM
Have you ever wondered just how much possible quality finds the "Sand Rake" takes during their runs? :'( Had a few hours the other day on a local beach before the "Rake" appeared and found a good range of modern coins around £6.00 ish, along with the odd toy and usual junk.
However, when the beast had covered the area infront of me the finds hit rock bottom. Now i thought the grids would be way too large to pull up coins, and the blade not deep enough to bury finds beyond detector range, unless I was entering a baron patch.  :-[
The only other factor could be a bloody Badger driving it!!! lol  :-\
P.S had a little Au but all on dry sand.

My guess is magnets, most modern 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p have a steel core, most modern detectors null them out anyway :)
