Title: Which Minelab? Post by: WEBBER on September 17, 2014, 04:23:22 PM I am thinking of adding a Minelab to my metal detecting collection but which one is best Explorer 2 , se , or etrac. I know they have a big learning curve but which is easier if any?
Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: Chef Geoff on September 17, 2014, 05:13:40 PM The Etrac is probably the most user friendly but as to which is best there's not a lot if anything between them ;)

Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: DEADLOCK on September 17, 2014, 06:10:07 PM I'd go with ctx mate, but also etrac still gud

I know they have a big learning curve but which is easier if any? Howmany detectors do you need ??? If I had a choice, even though I have an se pro and I love it to bits, The explorer 11 is still a great detector, but I think an etrac would be a wise choice, supported by Deus for fresh plough :D :D ;D Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: david995 on September 17, 2014, 06:48:20 PM Just to add another thing to this post , what's the difference between a se and a se pro ?
Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: WEBBER on September 17, 2014, 06:49:32 PM Nice one Outlaw I think an etrac is more in my price range although a ctx does look the beast and I like the gps feature maybe if I find the Ludlow Saxon hoard I'd buy one!!

The Pro had the Pro coil ;) Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: bowman on September 17, 2014, 06:59:08 PM I have an explorer 11 and a safari with the safari being more user friendly. After using both I tend to use the safari due to the pinpoint feature being more accurate and lighter to use. I have found many good finds with both machines. Minelabs are good all round machines you can rely on.
Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: david995 on September 17, 2014, 07:11:12 PM is it only the coil that is different geoff ?
Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: Chef Geoff on September 17, 2014, 07:13:07 PM Yes just the coil, there was a rumour of a slightly faster chip in the Pro but after using both I would say they are identical as Minelab also say ;)
Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: david995 on September 17, 2014, 07:20:17 PM yep i guess if they had put a faster chip in the se pro they would of heavily advertised the fact as a good selling point
Title: Re: Which Minelab? Post by: Dryland on September 17, 2014, 07:39:24 PM I've had both the Explorer and now I've got the Safari, both great machines. The Safari is easier to use as Bowman says, but I reckon the pinpoint on the explorer is much better.

Post by: WEBBER on September 22, 2014, 07:43:23 PM Anyone seen any etrac s for sale been looking there only seems to be a couple on eBay at the moment!
