Out today in Caldicot with the very knowledgable & informed Triggs(thanks Nigel).
Had the thermals & "several" layers of clothes on so although the ground was frozen in places & a chill in the air, cold wasn`t an issue.
Met Triggs at 9.30 in Caerwent & had a bash on the "Test bed" with the X70 & was pleasantly pleased that it held it`s own against the SE & found & identified all the buried objects. So with a smug grin & the "Terra" under me arm off we went.
Although the area looked very promising with a Monastery, river,Roman Fort, church & Caldicot Castle in the background the finds were not spectacular for the 6 hours we devoted to detecting & coins was not the "order of the day" but Triggs did have a nice thimble & other bits`n`bobs.
I had a loom weight, buckle & my finest button find to date(hoping Jonola can i d) aswell as a few oddments.
All in all a very enjoyable day out with a very nice person. Cheers Triggs !  Wink

Well the court of arms on the button Stig is the official court of arms for the British Monarchy, which is used on many things  eg the pound coin below.

The British War Relief society use the same motto as well.

Theres loads about the court of arms on this wikipedia.

Well done Stig & Trigg - great start to the new year.  The button looks very similar to one I found the other day (except in a much worse condition)

My button is here http://www.detectingwales.com/index.php?topic=5712.0
