We found this halfpenny and thought it was a 2p coin.
I gave all the coins we found to my son to clean up to save in his money box. While happily scrubbing away at the dirt and corrosion he called me and said "This one looks like there is a man on it and not a lady's face".
I think its a Edward VII halfpenny am i correct  Huh pics below.

Looks like a Edward VII to me but I am no PeterH and my eyesight is failing with old age  Roll Eyes

Does the date say 190?

always nice to get a pleasant surprise. I thought I had a Roman minim the other day but it was a 1/2 pence from 1971. I'd forgotten about those little blighters. Well done.

Yes definitely Edward VII. Well done on your first pre-decimal. It's one of those landmark moments, maybe next will be your first silver, first Victoria, first Georgian, first hammered, first Roman etc etc.

Nice one Robert, we all remember our first of each find.

My husbands first pre decimal coin was a bent William III Shilling which he promptly straightened only to be told about Love Tokens lol. Still, well done and let's hope you find many more  Wink
