After watching the rugby this morning I had the urge to get some detecting done , however my wife had other ideas. Well by the time I had puppy dog eyed her constantly for 3 hours, she finally relented and I got down to my farm at 1.00pm.

I always start on the horse paddock as it always , without exception produces a handful of pre-decimal coinage hmmm not today though, all I could manage was lead after lead after lead.  I gave up the ghost with that field and headed into the next field which was in very low stubble. This field in the past has always provided buttons and old white lead and today was no different with the exception of a strange looking gilded something , with a mounted spring inside (Peter any idea ? )

Onward to the next field which had been disked and was loverley to detect on same story again , loads more white lead and buttons also also in here I had the horse harness pendant if thats indeed what it is.

Up to the last field where I'd had 2 lizzy i 6D's in the past but it was dead and very noisy with iron so I gave in pretty quickly with that one  Smiley

Decided now to work my way back through the fields and back to the car, still picking up lead and bit n pieces but realised that I had not a single coin today which is bizarre for this farm. An hours into the stubble field on the return journey I had anothe small signal that was bound to be lead , however I was chuffed and very surprised when out popped my very first cut Quarter  (Any id Peter?)

Now the day was in its final thowes and light was dropping quiclkly, I got back into the paddock field and immediately had a hammered signal, no exitement here though as this field had never ever produced a hammered, I dug the signal and at first thought it was a lambing ring/Button Ring/ Harness guide ring... whatever they are  Smiley However I was again to be pleasantly surprised when the ring turned out to be a Ladies Finger ring.  Not Gold , Not Silver just plain old bronze . My first I can keep !  Cheesy.

Chuffed and nearly back to the car I had what was obviously a coin signal and it was !!!!!!!!!!!   A bloody 20p piece  Roll Eyes Never mind still a cracking day!

Great finds Rob. For me, the ring could be medieval or Roman. The cut quarter is Henry III, voided long cross. Not sure about the spring thingy - I'm sure I've seen something like it before though...
