I know many had a bronze handle but I assume this one never or it may well have still been attached. ;)Title: Re: Bronze Age Post by: Chef Geoff on November 28, 2015, 05:16:45 PM It does look like a Wessex 1 culture type as most of those are quite small if so then you're really back at the time of the Beaker people in the early Bronze Age 2500-2000 BC, difficult to say if all the hilts were the same but those that have survived, mainly from the bogs of Ireland and the Netherlands like the one below, have been horn ;).
