Hi everyone,
I was wondering how people picked their user names for their Detecting Wales profiles.

my user name is "Welsh John" because I'm welsh and my name is John, quite simple like me some would say.
But I know some of you have put a bit more thought and imagination into choosing your names.

So I thought it would be fun and interesting to hear how you chose all those wonderful Detecting Wales names.

So please let me know Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

On most other forums I am rolgm, but in joining this one I wanted people to know that I was only interested in doing good works per se hence 'pro bono' the actual line is 'pro bono publico'  - for the public good. I enjoy learning about new things people have found - and identifying things for people - that's all.

My brother (when he's around) on this forum is preprobono because he was born before me........a long time before I was Smiley

(rolgm was chosen as a name on ebay - I'd wanted my initials rgm, but that was taken already, so I came up with the shortest ebay name I could!)

Well I went to school with a lad who's aunt had been married before to a chap whose second cousin's nephew had got engaged to a girl who had a pet cat that had previously been owned by an old lady who had passed away but she had been in love with a man from Singapore where he had been a circus performer and every night after a hard shift on the high wire he would go for a meal in a nice restaurant and in that restaurant was a chef............simple really Undecided

Dungbeetle shoud be good.
The name comes from me carrying bulky monofil nets off the beach and being covered in mud. I met a chap on the way to the car and he said      " You look just like a dungbeetle "

Simples.
Its an abbreviated version of my vhf call sign. (billibuoy)

Having said that I am warmguts or warmbelly or just wb, on 2 of my poker sites. That came about through bait digging as wermgutz  which being in Wales, got immediately altered.

Great idea for a thread, as I often ask people when signing them up on rally days.

Um, mine is not too inventive, it was just the simplest way of when we launched DW for those who already knew me to know who to speak to about the forum, rallies, etc. It kind of stuck. Although "he who must not be named" once referred to me as " . . .a DW poster who mysteriously refers to himself as just Neil", which I found highly amusing! Kiss

Keep them coming guys.

Cheers
Just Neil

Like Neil I used my 'proper' name but there is a little story behind it.
When I was born (yes I was) my Mom wanted to call me April and my Nan insisted I carried on the family middle name of May.  Luckily they agreed that wouldn't sound right....April May Horton....NO.
The hunt was on for something Mom liked that would go with May.  So I was named after a popular movie star at the time,     Valerie Hobson.

Have any of you noticed that most of the Valerie's out there are about the same age as me. Now you know why.
