Title: What could this be? Post by: Christoph1945 on March 25, 2013, 09:31:38 PM I spent a few hours on a new field last week and amongst the odds and ends that I turned up, this item has me puzzled. The EuroAce gave me a none ferous signal at maximum depth and where most of the objects that morning had been between four and eight inches down; this object was at about fourteen inches. When I first saw it covered in mud, I thought that it was perhsps bronze axe head. I then decided that it was just a piece of iron scrap and threw it my scrap bag.
Later, at home, I gave it a good wash and checked it with a magnet and found that did not respond to the magnet. The item also looks as though it has been hacked by a blade in several places along its edge. Any ideas??? Title: Re: What could this be? If it is, then your object could very interesting. It certainly looks like some sort of blade. May be worth showing it to someone.?? PAS or a museum praps. Try a tiny scrape where it wont show. Slightly better shots. Title: Re: What could this be? Post by: Val Beechey on March 25, 2013, 10:57:57 PM Now it looks even more interesting ;) Not sure about the flattened edge though. Spose it could have been used to death :o
