hello guys, like tom was saying in his post,it was a strange day,he had a few romans ,and I had a scattered hoard the only thing was it was buttons not coins, haha, they give the same tone as roman coins but mine just kept coming up with the buttons,i had 63 yesterday, but I have had about 130 out of that field so far,but I have had some lovely finds out of it to,like celtic silver Edward and Charles hammered coins plus roman coins, but yesterday was another button day for me,i don't mind as long as we are out looking, cheers guys.Ron.

Great stuff Ron.  We'll clear that field of buttons eventually and then when it's ploughed next the goodies will be available.
Here's one for our detecting journal.

My Deus made a squeaky sound
Another button from the ground
From someone's skirt or shirt perhaps
From long ago? we'll never know
So in my bag it will now go.
The End. Ha! Ha!

I know you really wanted to know this  Grin
There's also been speculation that a button invested field was regularly used to dump night soil  Roll Eyes
Enjoy next time you go  Cheesy
