Had a few hours on a new permission this afternoon and will definitely be returning.  Anyone able to ID the ring and the hammered?

Thanks

WelshJohn

I wouldn't be surprised if that ring is a bit special John.   It's certainly very nice.

Great minds think alike Dylan.  The markings do resemble the Celtic Cross.

Thats a thing of beauty.

Is the bezel raised proud? As it looks to be a silver medieval seal ring to my untrained eye.

That notch above it almost looks deliberate, like you seen in modern rings where a woman wears her engagement and wedding ring over lapping each other.

Quality find and I am sure there a ton of more research to be done here.

Well done and get back there asap!

That's an incredible find John well done you, intriguingly or worryingly the symbol has a great similarity to that for black sulphur also known as the "Satanic Cross" Huh

I think Chef may be on the money there - certainly looks like a stylised version on the one on wikipedia. Link below:

The mystery deepens.  Fascinating.  Here's the Wiki link
