Title: Official Detecting Wales Rally Leominster
Post by: Tafflaff (Rob) on March 28, 2015, 01:03:04 PM
Detecting Wales next rally will be held in Leominster, there will be approximately 80 acres to play with. The majority of this acreage will be pasture with a small amount of ploughed.

The meeting time will be 9.00am and the rally will start at 9.30 am. The rally will finish at 5.00pm.

This will be a DetectingWales.com members only rally and I'm afraid everyone attending must be over 16 years of age. Usual terms and conditions apply. Everyone who attends does so at their own risk and we recommended that everyone has civil liability insurance. If you are a member of a club you will probably already have this. Please check.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

The location of the rally will be sent by private message to everyone who has signed up the day before the rally.

Entry is  £7 per person, pay on the day.

For those of you travelling to this rally over the Rhigos Mountain (A4061 Treherbert to Hirwaun), we have just  received a letter stating that the road will be closed from 6pm on 10th April to 6am on 13th April so you will need to make alternative travel arrangements.

cheers

It says at the top of post that to attend rallys we recommend that you have insurance? Is this a must have as I see a post from mike further down saying you must you have insurance ?Recommend/must have  kinda confusing? As I don't have it and I read that a lot of peeps don't buy it as it seams a waste of money for somin that will never be used. I mean what does it realy cover against and has anybody or anybody you no ever had to use just wondering ?

Title: Re: Official Detecting Wales Rally Leominster
Post by: Chef Geoff on March 30, 2015, 03:28:41 PM
Hi Matt it's just a "Recommended" not a "Must". As with all insurance it's a waste of money until the day you need it but no I have never known of anyone to need or use it, it covers accidents and injury caused as a result of detecting...holes unfilled, gates left open, fences broken etc etc but on a rally it's more for the landowners peace of mind as if anything happened as a result of a rally then there's only one person the land owner is going to come looking for and that's the organiser. ;)

Title: Re: Official Detecting Wales Rally Leominster
Post by: matt1978 on March 30, 2015, 03:52:54 PM
Ok great thanks for that. I think all metal detecting Clubs should then have just 1 club insurance for everyone because as you said the farmer would just come looking for the organiser and how could he then prove who dident fill there hole in or left a gate open when 100 peeps been roaming around all day.

Post by: Chef Geoff on March 30, 2015, 03:55:37 PM
But most people have their own permissions so you need it for those ;)

I personally show my insurance to any farmer I approach so as they have piece of mind before letting me on their property, and in one case it was the deciding factor to allow me on their land

At present, I am caught between a rock and a hard place. The Mrs is still recovering from her recent bout of illness but she is till hoping to make it to the Man United match that is playing on the same day as the rally. If she decides not to go the match on the last minute, I can then zoom down to the rally.  ::)

Don't take no for an answer Chris. Just tell her you're going.  They don't get much closer, the next one might be Devon again.  There'll always be another football match to go to.

That's my thinking Val but then I'm not a football fan; the wife once berated me for falling asleep during a game.I normally give up my seat for her cousin and I sit in the car park and read.  :(

Good evening folks fate has actually intervened, and even if the wife cancels her tickets for the United match I will still not be able to make it to the rally. Please remove my name from the list for the day.

Hopefully I will be able to make it to a rally later in the year. May I wish you all good luck and happy hunting.

                                                     Chris  :D

I've been watching it like a Hawk jay.  Here's the latest from the Met Office for Hampton Court, Leominster.  Cooler and windy but no rain.  Let's hope they're right.

She and her cousin were cock-a-hoop as they left the ground, with the score at 4-1. Heard tell that city put in an other goal as we sped for the M62!  Normally takes 8 mins from the stadium to the motorway, but if they wait for the final whistle it can take us an hour and a half.  ::)

Not a football fan myself, but there you go; it takes all sorts!  ;)

Fingers crossed
