Well had a text  Tuesday from me old mate (keepmeteethinthejarbesidethebedside) and yes I am trying to get him to shorten his user name, to say he had managed to winkle out a Gold ring and some pre-decimals on Berrow beach yer in Somerset, so yesterday we decided to give a few beaches in the area another go, after a short drive to his we were on are way and arrived at 11am at are first stop Burnham, this beach would have huge potential I am sure but short of a really strong gale very rarely opens up we did not get anything of note from here so after a while we decided a short drive along the coast to ware he had found his ring and pennies on arrival it had put a bit more sand back on ,however we were soon searching and came up with a few pre-decimal in the form of pennies, sixpences x 2 and a couple of thrupences I had  what I thought was a gold ring as can be seen in picture only to be disappointed with a bottle top, then it happened you know when you’re out with a mate and from a distance they start to walk towards you with that ridiculous grin, well that’s what happened and as I held my hand out to receive what I knew was BLING he dropped one of the nicest rings I have seen for a while into my palm, after a quick wash off we could see it was a Half Sovereign dated 1817 in a super mount I was so pleased for him and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer chap!!!! My voodoo doll of him is coming along nicely and can’t wait till I try it out. Oh yeh I did manage to blagg a watch from him as seen in picture.

Nice finds - very unusual to see a George III mounted in a ring and the design on the side of the eagle is different as well. Be curious as to what date the ring is hallmarked for. Quality find!

Great photos - keep them coming!

That looks like a really good site - lots of older stuff rather than modern coinage!
