how deep were coffins buried in medieval times?
im talking about important people in a proper burial where they would have been placed in lead coffins.
could someone pic up a large lead signal from a coffin with a metal detector??

you want to dig up what? Roll Eyes,, im sure the anti detecting league are now saying see theyre all grave robbers Grin,, me I love pieces of lead not because there may be a skeleton in it that I could flog to a medical school Roll Eyes,,but pieces bus size don't half fill the scrap bucket up nicely.

Jeez, Me, I want to avoid coffins as long as I possibly can!  Wink  Having said that; one of my farmers is convinced that Napoleonic prisoners were once buried on his land. I wouldn't be interested in finding the coffins, but the burial parties may well have dropped objects whilst going about their duties.  Undecided
