I'd agree with you - problem is they still make rings like that - even I did when my missus made me do a jewelry course with her :)

Looks like it might have been a buckle or a brooch to me with that indentation and can see where a pin may have been attached (worn area).

I hope it's an annular brooch as i've never found one before. There has been roman found on the field where this was found

Yes indeed. I'm using number one as I like the way it sounds. The others give a really long sound when going over targets where number one gives a beep

Very nice. It was just last night I was looking through a medieval book and saw one very very similar and thought ooh I want.

On 2nd thought I may give finding the pin a miss. It would be near impossible to find I think. Here's a pic to show how small the brooch is next to a penny
