Need a new set of phones and have had my Hunter phones since day one. With a Minelab detector and a new one on the way what is the best set of phones to use with the Minelabs. I know people who are happy with their Chef phones, their Maz phones and that the Koss UR-30,S (no longer made) WERE THE RECOMMENDED PHONES for the Minelabs but I want a switch-less stereo phone with just a Volume control. What do you say folks.

I had a pair of Maz Big blues for many years I only had a problem once, Curly wurly lead broke down on a rally and Mr Maz was kind enough to give me 2 one as a Spare free of charge

Ive got 2 Koss UR 30,s one  (One was left to me by be late Detecting butty Derek Jones (RARE))
Cheap enough to buy and hard wearing and good sound quality and as a plus point the Loudest ive tried so far,
I do have tendancy to Daydream and the UR30,s Keep me focused lol

I would like to try a pair of your phones Cheff !
Maybe on a years approval  Grin

So if I asked for a stereo pair with no on off switch and I want a loud pair as well what would I be looking at Chef. I expect to use them with a Minelab Quattro and a SE Pro or E-Trac.

You are the same as me Phil - I also use the same Koss and have a pair of Big Blues (DetectorDave kindly repaired them} that I never really got on with. I also have three boxes of Tescos finest headphones in case of a real emergency. In fairness they are not bad and on were on sale at only three quid a time rather than a tenner. Better safe than sorry!

Steve

I used Predators for a few years and I liked them as they folded up. Then someone gave me a pair of Headhunters...and then I realised how much better they were than the Predators. Immediately sold the Predators.

It was this that taught me that a good set of headphones makes all the difference. Quality shouts. I haven't tried Chef Phones yet but I wouldn't mind comparing them.

I was talking to guy recently who said that predators shouldn't be used with minelabs..something about ohms and battery drain. not quite  sure what he was refering to really as i've used my "Preds" on my minelab sovereign for years without any problem.
i'd like to know, from people like Chef, whether this guy (minelabs and high or low ohms) was right and if i changed my headphones would i get longer battery life?
