Nearly threw in scrap bin till I saw the chinese characters on it. About same size as pre decimal 1/2d
Found next to disused railway. Did they use Chinese navvies on our railways
Found about 8" Is it ming dynasty ?
Thanks Ian

Nice unusual find Ian.  I know Chinese labour was widely used on railways in America so I don't see why not here. onder what it was worth.

Not really Geoff  this side has 4 characters on it . 1 in each quarter.
I'm giving it the oil treatment so it may improve.

There could be any number of reasons - they are (usually) quite cheap for a start, so could be people bringing them back after the war or summut - I found one in Pontypool Park last year (on a GDC rally)
