There is also the famous poem which makes reference to a love token.

There was a crooked man,
and walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile;
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

That rhyme is often used as an example and in my mind wrongly, if we were looking for evidence of subsidence in medieval buildings would we be citing the same poem for it's reference to a "crooked house" lol Or even for arthritis, deformation in cats or even the terrible state of styles in history lol
A big pinch of salt is needed with that one I think. Even to there exact use has never been established, we call them love tokens but I don't think there is any evidence that that's what they were.
