I am with Seeker on the hoard theory. A classic sign of a hoard with coins being stacked on top of each other. Get bac there Paul and keep us updated.

I gridded a very very large surrounding area in all metal and not a peep
but u prob. correct.....PaulB. Cool

hi ,
it may not be where you found the coins as they could well have ended up there on a wheel of a tractor but definitely points to a hoard there somewhere not to far away . if you found them close to a boundary with a ditch id look there as it may have been clipped when dug and spred on the field .also ask the farmer has he has dumped any soil in that area and where did he dig it from .
