Title: Re: Gold Post by: Chef Geoff on November 09, 2015, 07:58:58 PM It's on a bit of a downward spiral at the moment so not the best time to sell it's around £720 an ounce at the moment, I don't think there is much if any in the provenance as gold is a free element and has been around for far longer than man has been here so in ingots it's simply been melted together ;)

A jeweller in Bath has been commissioned by the farmer to make a piece of family jewellery out of it, the jeweller is happy for the farmer to see the process through from ingot to rings, for obvious reasons the jeweller said they just do not get the provinonce or chance to work with this type of Gold ie Bronze Age..Happy days all round. ;)

It reminds me of a novel I read when I was a child. It's called 'The Path of the King' by John Buchan - it's about a gold arm band and it being handed down through the generations, being re-cast, bits sold off and the like.
