I managed to have a few hours out yesterday on a roman field, I found little lead a damaged brooch, and a strange looking thing, at first I thought it was a squashed roman whistle but now its cleaned I haven't got a clue Huh
Iv shown the best 9 but after cleaning there was only 4 worth putting in the tray Wink

Doug they are off ploughed land, but only recently, so its not seen the chemicals other fields have, the red mud seems worse around this area..... I had 17 in total the other 8 was battered surface grots, tiny things with nothing on Smiley

Wow Dale that's almost a hoard.  Great condition as well.  I only found one coin this afternoon and I think it's Martian. Grin

Well done.  Wonder what that thingy is. It does look a bit like a hand but only 3 fingers ?

Cheers Dylan Wink

Looking at the photo it does look like a hand holding a ball, its looks a little different in hand? the ball looking bit is actually a pin?

thats good going there Dale. well done indeed.

i know that the BM are interested in all roman coinage, no matter how worn they appear to be. I'm sure the FLO will be delighted to pass them onto Sam Moorhead for identification and recording.

well done on getting out and about
